About Albania's Participation

Albania has a remarkable coastline of around 476 km, extending along both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Its coastal and marine environment includes sandy beaches, rocky coves, lagoons, wetlands, and mountainous shorelines, creating a diverse landscape with strong potential for sustainable coastal and maritime tourism.

Coastal tourism is an increasingly important part of Albania’s economy, with destinations such as Durrës, Vlorë, Sarandë, Himarë, and Ksamil attracting growing numbers of international visitors. The country is also becoming more active in regional efforts related to sustainable tourism, marine conservation, coastal zone management, and blue economy development in the Mediterranean.

Albania’s tourism sector has expanded rapidly in recent years, supported by its natural coastline, cultural heritage, and improving tourism infrastructure. Key coastal areas include the Albanian Riviera, the Bay of Vlorë, the Karaburun–Sazan Marine Park, and the coastal wetlands of Divjakë-Karavasta and Butrint.
